When V was playing on the strip at Gazzarri's we used to be going to that club several days a week and they were there for quite a while. Mostly in the beginning they were playing bluesy stuff and a lot of sound-alikes of popular music. You could tell they didn't really like it, because they shined at stuff like this that was original...every now and then. The whole vibe was different back then. I was still in high school but got in because we knew Stan and Russel the bouncers, and they let us in because we spent bucks and didn't make trouble, were loyal patrons. And V was badass as were several other acts back then. Some of them went on to be big. Some we never saw or heard of again.

I have all 6 D.L.R. Van Halen CDs. I found all of them at Walmart when Walmart still used to sell CDs. I got all 9 Led Zeppelin CDs as well from the same store. I even scored 3 Slipknot CDs there too... Uncensored even!

I too was a teenagr in high school when Van Halen was in their prime & selling out stadiums. Unfortunately i never got the chance to see them live, but i remember VH #1 was released in 1978 & i was 12 years old that year. I remember when VH#2, Women & Children First, Fair Warning, 1984, & Diver Down albums were released. Then came the Van Hagar era which i was not really a fan of but still they put out some decent stuff. I've always liked the song Poundcake. Anyway i guess what im saying is it was a great time to grow up! I am absolutely stoked to have this album in my music collection. A HUGE THANK YOU to you, Mr. Vince S. for putting this classic masterpiece on RUclips!

Been a huge fan since I was a child in the 70's and have to wonder if this is a bad recording or were we to have to wait for the release of the first Van Halen album because this demo was so horribly produced. No one should ever underscore the importance of the right producer to a band. Great bands make music and great producers make that music great

Hands down an ultimate time capsule, how they were ment to be heard . Dave was incredible . None of his studio albums touch this ...not evan close I dont know what happened but this is the only album that is true Mammoth .VAN HALEN ROCKS .I SAY THIS IS THE ONLY ALBUM THEY HAVE.every thing else is over produced and the magic is lost.So raw so tight so whisky ago go! I love this sound ! Fuck yes ! ! They sound so fucken good! I am happy that I finally got to experience this . Thanks Gene !

Wow this is Amazing. Hard to believe so many songs that appeared on later albums were done before the 1st album. Too bad there wasn’t a Hagar era song on here that was written originally for Dave to sing.
